I have been making knives now
for 28 years and am proud to be a member of the Knifemakers Guild.
Each knife is hand crafted from barstock and are made from the
best steels available. I specialize in interframe folding knives
with engraving and gemstone inlays. Some are engraved in color,
a technique I developed about 10 years ago. I am the only maker
in the world doing color engraving of this type. Subject matter
is unlimited and I try to match the inlay material with the engraving.
Many of the inlays are gemstones, such as jades, lapis and opal.
I am the first maker to use gem grade Australian opal for inlays
in an interframe folder. The first piece was a small dagger with
an 18 karat rosegold frame. I also do beautiful arabesque scroll
engraving with gold inlays. I am also now doing carving on the
frames and blades having spent some time with Wolfgang Loerchner,
a dear friend of mine. You will be seeing this on several new
models I have designed this year. I am doing a new locking system
for my folders and larger blades.
I am also a member of the Art
Knife Invitational group and show. This is a very prestigious
show of only 25 knife artists and is held every 2 years in San
Diego, California. This show is by invitation only, both for the
makers and the collectors. I have been a part of this show since
the second show in Reno, Nevada in the early 1980's. There are
many makers wanting to be in this group but it is limited to only
25 of the worlds finest. I am very proud to be a part of this
group.
On a personal note: I am not
in the habit of discussing my personal life in a public forum
but I felt that there was something important to tell you all.
I have been battling a chronic
illness now for about 10 years. I have had it fairly in control
with the help of medication until the past 18 months. My illness
became severe and it took several months for my doctor to find
a medication that would work for me. This has been a very trying
time for me and my family. This illness effects every aspect of
my life from eating to working. It can leave me without the ability
to function for days at a time. I have been slowly improving over
the past 3 months and have hopes that this will continue. From
November of '05 to March of this year was the worst of my life,
I could'nt function much at all. I am now working hard to catch
up and I am slowly succeeding. I now have more good days than
bad. I would like to thank everyone from friends and clients for
their understanding and support and patience. It is you who have
made it possible for me to go on. I am working hard to fulfill
all the demands on me and with your continued support I have all
the faith in the world that I will win this battle and continue
to make beautiful knives for you. I have many new ideas for knives
and engraving designs.

Slivers

This is the new "sliver"
model. I think it is perhaps my best design so far. As you can
see, it looks as good closed as open. This new knife also has
a new locking system for me known as the side-lock. This is a
liner type lock with a titanium spring but it is inlaid into the
416 stainless frame. I feel this makes a stronger and more wear
resistant lock over the standard liner-lock. I am also pinning
these knives together as my lockback folders as screws showing
would ruin the design flow and engraving spaces on the knife.
There are no washers between the blade and liners so no visible
gap there either. The entire backstrap of these knives is 416
stainless, engravable and carvable. I am doing this model in 3
blade sizes 3", 3.5", 4" and 4.5/16" in the
wharnecliff blade. This knife has a flute carved from the blade
point gracefully through the length of the frame. I am also make
claw ground blades on special order, this style having a concave
curved edge. I have designed several other knives this year and
will post them when I get them made and photographed.

As you can see, I have also
been doing some ladies jewelry. This was a custom, piece made
for a collector's wife. She requested the hump back whales. This
piece came out extremely well, and I intend to make more jewelry
for the ladies. I am offering to do bracelets, pendents and earrings.
The jewelry will be done on a custom basis so that each piece
can be personalized.
